It wasn’t too long a go that I spoke to an old friend Roger Smith, who is the head scout for Cardiff City FC. We spoke for quite a long time speaking all things football, and it wasn’t until I started writing the good stuff up, that I realised just how long this article was going to be. So to make it a little easier to read, I cut it up and put it into 2 posts. Enjoy.
My dream job I’ve always thought would to become a football scout. A football scout gets to watch endless live games, gets paid to travel to different countries to prey on new footballing talent, gets to experience all the best stadiums in the world. And all the other amazing footballing things you can think of. What a job. Who in their right mind would not want to do all that ?
Playing semi professional football or football inspiration ?
That was what I was thinking when planning out the questions for Alex Russell.
A football coach has always been an option for former players or even non players. For youth academy football players, it’s more than likely you might have had some type of experience with football coaching, weather it was with The PFA or doing Sports Science or another course at college. Also having played football with a professional club, you’ve been coached day in day out so you know what it’s all about.
Recently I did an article on playing football abroad, with Royal Racing Montegnee FC. I found it interesting to hear the views of their president, Paul Topping and how he recruited players for RRFC.
